This site focuses on classic shamanism, as defined in this excellent article on the differences between classic shamanism and core shamanism by Raven Kaldera. We hope to be of service to all who are interested in learning more about what shamanism really is and what real shamans do.
Join us on a journey into the world of the shaman.
Classic Shamanism and Animism Resources
Our intent is to help you find inspiration and resources for doing real shamanic work. We try to convey, or at least describe, the animist worldview, the reality in which indigenous shamans live and work.
The site also includes (or will include) how-to articles on drumming, smudging, cleansing, protection, toning and chanting, finding your animal guides, dreamwork, divination, soul retrieval, soul release (psychopomp) work, and much more.
Shamanism Resources for All Levels of Experience
If you are new to shamanism, we hope to provide the information you need to get started and to make contact with shamanism teachers and fellow students who can help you along the way. At the very least, we'll explain the concepts and recommend some good books, CDs, and tools to help you get started.
If you have already received training in shamanic work, this site may open your eyes to additional shamanic practices.
If you are an experienced shamanic practitioner, we hope you will find inspiration and links to resources for your own practice and to recommend to others.
What's New at Shamanista?
The site is currently going through another slight redesign process, so you may run across pages that don't quite match. I hope to be finished soon. But really this site will keep growing and changing, so you may always encounter hiccups.
In the Other Resources section, on the Web Pages and Blogs page, there is a new link to a pagan culture still existing on the edge of Estonia.

In the Other Resources section there is now a resource page for Shamanist and Animist Art by indigenous artists and by visionary artists such as Susan Seddon Boulet and Tom Perkinson.
