Soul Retrieval

Soul retrieval is a special form of shamanic healing. In shamanic cultures it is believed that an illness, a bad fall, a horrible fright, or the bad intentions of another person,, especially a sorcerer (essentially a shaman gone bad) can cause a you to lose pieces of your soul, or life essence. If you lose too much of your soul, you die. Soul retrieval is an important duty of many shamans.

From the point of view of a student of shamanism, soul retrieval is an advanced technique that requires a few years of experience. Unless you have a lot of journeying and healing experience, this is not something you should just read a book and start doing.

When you are ready to learn more about soul retrieval, the classic book on the subject is Soul Retrieval: Mending the Fragmented Self by Sandra Ingerman, a psychotherapist and former Director of Education for the Foundation for Shamanic Studies.
