Spiders

How spiders are thought of varies greatly from one people to another, depending on how they live. In cultures that weave cloth, such as ancient (archaic) Greece and the Pueblo and Navajo peoples of North America, the spider is honored as the patroness of weavers. In the Great Plains of North America, and to some of the peoples of Africa, the Spider spirit is male trickster.

Spider the Weaver

Ariadne of Greek myth was one revered as the Spider spirit, the patroness of weavers.

Pueblo peoples say that Spider Grandmother wove the universe and that the stars in the night sky are dew drops on her web.
